Pre-Pregnancy Checklist
Expecting baby soon? There are plenty of things that you might want to check off your bucket list. Here is a list of pregnancy checklist that will help you stay on the track.
Get Moving
Before you start thinking of a name and painting your nursery, don’t forget to think about your body. Aim to exercise for at least 30 minutes to keep your heart pumping normal. Walking, cycling or swimming is the best ways to workout. If possible, join prenatal exercise classes.
Eat Healthy & Right
You might be craving for pickles and ice creams. Focus on eating well and healthy. Your body will require a lot of protein, calcium, iron and folic acid. Start eating nuts, veggies, green veggies, whole grains, fruits, and low-fat dairy items. Cut back on junk food, soda, and baked items.
Folic Acid Course
Start taking folic acid tablets as they prevent serious birth defects. You need around 400 micrograms of folic acid every day which is the amount found in most multivitamins.
Keep A Check On Your Weight
Being too thin can make the pregnancy harder and being too heavy also causes problems. It increases the chances of high blood pressure, diabetes and can also make the labor last longer. Consult with your doctor regularly and ask about:
- Tests or vaccines you need
- Prenatal vitamins
- How to manage or control health conditions
- Medicines you can and can’t take during pregnancy
Reduce Caffeine
According to some experts, it is okay to get around 200 milligrams of caffeine per day while you’re trying to get pregnant and also during pregnancy. That makes about one 12-ounce cup of coffee or four 8-ounce cups of tea. Try warm, spiced milk or switch to decaf instead.
Quit Smoking
Smoking can make it difficult for you to get pregnant. And especially smoking during pregnancy can raise problems like premature birth, low birth weight, and miscarriage. It also puts your baby at risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Ask your partner to quit smoking too as passive smoking is also equally harmful and also hurts male fertility.
Quit Drinking
Give up all the drinks if you are trying to get pregnant. Drinking during pregnancy leads to problems such as high chances for birth defects and learning problems. Alcohol also makes it hard for women to conceive. Play it safe if you cannot entirely give up on booze.
Baby Budget
Newborn babies need a lot of stuff. They need thousands of diapers before they are potty trained. You would need their clothes, car seat, stroller, baby bottles and other baby accessories. Make a list of supplies and products beforehand.
Make sure you bring supplies and furniture so you can set new rules and set the nursery for your new baby.
